On Friday August 12, 2011 Trevor and I got engaged!
The South side of the Calgary Glenmore Reservoir is a sort of special place to Trevor and I. He took me there for one of our first dates, and we have gone there together many times since. We love going for night walks, or to just sit on the benches and talk and look at the beautiful view of
Saturday night Trevor took me to the Reservoir to go for a walk. The sky was beyond beautiful! The sun was setting, and the sky was lit up purple, pink, and orange. We walked along the bike path beside the water looking for a good place to sit to watch the sun go down. So we walked and walked, but eventually walked too far till we couldn’t see the sun anymore from behind the trees. It turns out Trevor was just buying time to get his nerves under control. We turned around to walk back to a better look out point. When we turned around we noticed the moon had risen behind us, it was full and beautiful! So we walked some more, and found a place to sit. While we sat on the bench I was taking in the view and commenting on how wonderful the night was, but Trevor was prepping himself for the big moment. Eventually he stood up in front of me and held my hands and just smiled. I wasn’t sure of what was going on, so I asked if he wanted to sit back down. He answered no and pulled me to stand up with him. He told me how much he loved me, and how he couldn’t imagine his life any other way. He said many other wonderful things, which I’ll keep for just me and him, but skipping to the end he got down on one knee and put a beautiful ring on my finger and asked me to marry him. I was so excited I forgot to say yes! I was too busy kissing him/jumping/giggling to even give him my answer. Eventually he did get his official “YES!!”
The proposal was beautiful and a big surprise. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Trevor is a wonderful man and I feel lucky to soon be his wife!
